MEETING OF THE ORANGE, NH
HAZARD MITIGATION PLANNING COMMITTEE
April 20, 2016, 6:00 pm
Orange Town House, Orange, NH
The Town of Orange, with the local Hazard Mitigation Planning Committee, is working to update Orange’s Hazard Mitigation Plan. The Plan identifies potential natural and man-made hazards throughout the town and various projects and/or strategies to mitigate their effects. The President signed into law, the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 (DMA). The Act requires all local governments to prepare and adopt jurisdiction-wide hazard mitigation plans as a condition of receiving Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) and Pre-Disaster Mitigation (PDM) project grants.
All residents, neighboring communities, businesses, and interested parties are formally invited to participate in the plan update process.

Selectboard Chair Dorothy Heinrichs and Budget Committee Chair Dave Stacy sent this letter to the Valley News, with hopes that the paper will print it tomorrow:
Last Thursday, the Valley News reported a startling 36% tax increase in the town of Orange. That story was based on an error in the town report. In reality, the Budget Committee and Select Board recommended an appropriation totaling $348.25 for the entire town (excluding county and school district taxes)--a hike of about a dollar for each resident.
While we regret the error, we expect our neighbors will be relieved.
Sophie Seace sent us a reminder that the Town Clerk will be in the office Monday 3/7/2016 from 3 to 5pm for in-person requests and acceptance of absentee ballots.
Beth diFrancesco suggested we post the ballot with the candidate slate. Sandi kindly supplied a copy.
