A couple of Orangeites have asked when it is, since we managed to leave it off the calendar. And, boy, is it fast approaching! The party traditionally falls on the second Sunday of December, and that's true this year, too:
Sunday, December 9, 4:00pm at the Orange Town House.
Bring a potluck dish. Santa comes after dinner and caroling.
Christy Souza tells us that another wind farm meeting will be held, this one taking place at 7 p.m. tomorrow at the Grafton firehouse. She provided a link to a site that opposes industrial wind farms in New Hampshire. As always feel free to comment, or start a discussion in the discussion board.
Scott Lurgio, Chairman of the Orange Conservation Commission, sent us the latest newsletter from the Newfound Lake Region Association. The newsletter says the group will be giving updates on wind-farm news on its Facebook page. Here's a quote from the newsletter:
Given The Newfound Lake Region Association's mission to protect Newfound Lake and its watershed, the NLRA board of trustees, at their fall meeting on November 18, 2012, voted unanimously to oppose the Wild Meadow Wind Project as currently proposed, based on its potential adverse impact on the region's natural, social, and economic resources.
We just put up official minutes of new Select Board meetings. You'll find the one for November 13, setting the tax rate, here. The regular November 16 meeting minutes are here.
The new rate is $19.77 per thousand assessed property value, down slightly from last year even though the town's share increased substantially. You'll see the reasons why in the minutes. Feel free to comment or add a discussion on the discussion board.
Just a reminder that, because of Thanksgiving, trash gets collected tomorrow, Saturday, instead of today.
