Wolf Hybrids Rescued

Our wolf-dog neighbors in Alexandria have been found in rough shape after their owner was evicted from the rental property. The Upper Valley Humane Society told the Valley News that 40 hybrids were found in 20 pens. One was already dead, one died shortly after, and another nine were found beyond hope and euthanized. The remaining 29 have been taken to a rescue center.

The Valley News is a pay site. You can find a summary of the story for free here

Dave's Moose

Dave Stacy took these pictures of a bull moose visiting a female and her calf in Orange Pond. He says the bull chased mother and young into the pond--it's rutting season, remember--and he took the pictures from the Collins-Laines' dock. Fortunately, the bull didn't seem to see Dave as much of a threat.

Bring Your Talent to Dorchester

Bruce Pratt of Dorchester's Cultural Arts Advisory Committee sent us this notice. Sounds like fun!
Dorchester will be hosting a talent show on October 5th 2013 at the Dorchester Town Hall. This will also be the opening night of the Town Hall Art Exhibit which will feature the works of accomplished artist Bob Pon. Also, and as part of this event, there will be a pie raffle. This is a free event.
We would like to extend our invitation to your residents to not only attend this event but also to participate in this event as well. If there are residents from your town who sing, dance, act, play an instrument, love poetry or have some other talent within the arts we would like to hear from them. This opportunity is open to artists and amateurs of all ages and abilities. Please take part in this opportunity to share your expression and talents with our town.
Prizes will be awarded to...no one. This is not a competition but a chance for residents and neighbors to share, and residents and neighbors to enjoy, the talent that is in our own backyard.
Interested persons can contact directly BrucePratt@BrucePrattJr.com or call Bruce at 603-786-2782. Currently we are working on a printed (PDF) flyer we can share with you if you wish. We look forward to hearing from those in your town that would like to participate and seeing you there on Oct 5th.
