Town Clerk Hours

Sandi Pierson writes: "In the December 26, 2012 the Select Board minutes noted that the town clerk's office would be holding two daytime hours each week. This is not accurate. Along with the regular schedule, the town clerk's office will be open on the third Friday of the month from 9 AM to 11 AM."

If you have any doubts about office times, trash collection, or town events, check the town calendar. And if you have Google Calendar, remember that you can easily add the Orange calendar to your own!

Big Burls Don't Cry

Sandi Pierson sent in this photo of an enormous burl, with Gabe Roxby from the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests.

The tree--is that a maple, Sandi?--grows in the Sudrabin forest: "Orange's best kept secret... a wonderful woodland playground," she notes.

Wind Power Science

Dr. Ben Luce, a professor of physics and chair of the Sustainability Studies program at Lyndon State College, is giving a talk tonight (January 18) on "a scientific case against the development of Industrial wind power on mountain ridgelines in New Hampshire."

Dr. Luce previously served as the director of the New Mexico Coalition for Clean Affordable Energy, and he supported wind power and other renewable energy sources.

The talk begins 7 p.m. at Newfound Regional High School in Bristol. The public is invited.

And don't forget, the discussion board is open to anyone who wants to advocate or oppose wind farms in our area.
