Marilyn Johnson reminds us to mark our calendars for 4pm Sunday, December 13. Bring a main dish, salad, or dessert to the Town House for the annual Town of Orange Christmas party.
Be on the lookout for a black sedan spotted idling several places around Orange, including Cardigan Mountain Toad and Tuttle Hill Road.
If you see the car, get the license number and note date and time, then call state police: 223-4381.
The thefts are continuing. A car was broken into during mid-afternoon the other day, in the lower Cardigan State Park parking area off Burnt Hill. A wallet , phone, and glasses got swiped. Let's help the police catch the thieves!
We looked at the tax rates from 2009 through 2015 to see how next year's rate measures up with next year's rate of $20.43 per thousand of evaluated property. Here is the six-year average, with next year's rate in parentheses. The Town portion fluctuates the most widely from year to year.
Bottom line: next year's tax rate is slightly below the six-year average. Of course, the tax you actually pay will be higher if your property valuation increased.
