Property Assessment Update

Sandi Pierson, our Town's hardworking Select Board Secretary and resident explorer, sent us the approved minutes of the August 18 Select Board meeting. You can read them here. The public comment section at the end is especially worth reading. It shows that Orange is really back to normal!
It turns out that Sandi is an excellent movie reviewer as well. She saw "A Walk in the Woods" at the Nugget and was disappointed by Robert Redford's lackluster performance. But what really got to her was the characters' inability to use their hiking poles. They are kept collapsed and in the packs, even while Redford and Nick Nolte are crossing a brook. Naturally, the men fall in. Sandi, you should be an expert consultant on every outdoor movie.
Gotta stop typing so fast. Corrected the original "Lost in the Woods" with "A Walk in the Woods."
Sandi Pierson took this picture from the discontinued New Colony Road from Orange to Canaan with her sister. (Click on the thumbnail or the link to see the full image.) Here's what she says:
Neither of us had walked the entirety of this road for about twenty years and were taken by surprise to find that the view of the White Mountains was wholly hindered by the wind turbines in Groton. (Oddly, only one of them was spinning.) Whether you are for or against industrial wind projects (my sister sees them as graceful complements to the landscape), know that they do significantly affect the countryside views we predominantly enjoy today.
Sorry about the slew of posts; Sandi has been busy. (We keep seeing her truck outside the Town House at 7 a.m.)
She sent us this update on the assessment revaluations, which she got from Avitar's Mark Stetson:
Sandi's number: 523-7936.
We just posted minutes from the Board's August 11 meeting, along with minutes of the August 18 meeting with the New Hampshire Department of Revenue Administration. The DRA is helping the Town straighten out the mess in the Town's finances left by the last administration. Tessa Michetti told the officials that she expects to have a report complete soon. Meanwhile, the bills are being paid on time again.
If you're concerned about the state of the Town's finances, you'll definitely want to read the DRA meeting minutes here.
