Here's a reason to celebrate: The Conservacy is permanently protecting Kimball Hill, a 2,700-acre parcel of undeveloped land in the area of Sculptured Rocks. "This land would have been a component of the proposed Spruce Ridge Wind facility," according to an announcement by New Hampshire Wind Watch.

The land will be managed for wildlife habitat and recreation; a conservation easement will prohibit industrial wind, transmission lines, and cell towers.

The Nature Conservation is using $2.1 million, much of it in the form of a loan, to buy the land. The organization is seeking $500,000 in donoations, and says that more than half has already been collected.

TNC and NH Wind Watch are planning to celebrate the purchase on Please join us for a very special event on Saturday, December 2, 4-6 PM, at the Inn on Newfound Lake, 1030 Mayhew Turnpike, Bridgewater, with appetisers and cash bar. RSVP here by November 26 if you plan to come.
